Winter Nights & Home Comforts

With Winter hanging over us still, the home comforts of the cold days make it feel better. Candles help. With the comfort, with the cosy vibe, with the ambience. I go through so many, because I really love that cosy feeling on the dark cold nights... and in a search for a decent size candle with a gorgeous scent that lasts a while I found the Primark range.

These candles are apx 6 inches wide with 3 wicks and the tin is decorated with a floral surface design. These would make for a lovely birthday present on a budget! At £3 who can complain?

This specific candle is scented Sweet Pineapple & Ginger, and I loooove this smell! Tangy citrus notes yet homely at the same time. If this isn't your thing, this is just 1 of a few scents in the tinned range. Burns up to 28 hours too, not that I've timed it myself but on of these can last me a good 2-3 weeks with a lot of constant burning time.

So for all the candle addicts out there who need a burning flame to accompany the cold nights, try out the Primark range to be kind on your bank balance.

Until next time...

Statement Jewellery: Dare to Wear

I think by now, we all know I'm a totally jewellery & accessories lover. Jewellery can totally transform and outfit and the way you feel. Certain jewellery pieces of mine somehow allow me to feel more confident or sophisticated or fun (you get the idea, depending on the design.) Over December I was in Primark picking up some wardrobe staples and had to have a mosey around the accessories section.

I am a complete sucker for rose gold, whether its jewellery, home accessories, nail polish. I can't get enough. I got my eye on the full finger ring which was reduced to £1. What a steal! The ring is 1 coil of metal (rose gold coloured obv) and dusted in diamantes, gently nestled in claw settings.

When the light catches this, the diamantes really twinkle. The full finger effect creates a statement head turning piece which has made for lovely compliments when I've worn this.

I am seriously loving either fine pieces or slightly ambiguous statement pieces at the moment! And this fits the latter. The coiled metal is sturdy so the coil doesn't nip the skin which is a plus.

So if you're looking for minimal effort of upgrading your outfit, the dare to wear a full finger ring - or even better... a two ringer ring!

Until next time...

Camel Coats & Fine Jewellery

On NYE I headed out to get some fashion shots. I have been really excited to get some fashion posts and "what i'm wearing" posts up on here and hope to continue doing so.
I suffer from the cold a lot so I'm always on the lookout for warm but practical pieces for my wardrobe!

First let me tell you how in love I am with these images! It would not have been possible without  photographer Richie Schaapkens, make up artist Colleen Carrah & fellow blogger/hair stylist Zoe Heseltine (Zotonixe.)

So if you're looking for something this style but you're on a bidget you'll be pleased to know this was very low cost from highstreet stores.

The coat is a current Primark buy and for a gorgeous sand shade and it is wool, I didn't think £25 was bad for a nice cut and shape.

My boots are very old New Look and paid £5 for them in a January sale a good while back! (super comfy and get lots of compliments on them)

This scarf is soo cosy and can be worn a few different ways - which I love. It also gives a nice contrast against this colour coat. Also a Primark buy from last year.

Moving on, my shirt is a lovely utility style shirt is a gorgeous powder blue shade. Layered under the sand coat it makes me think a lot about Ralph Lauren's classic colour palette. Again, Primark and cost me £10 and worn it so much already!

My necklace is a gorgeous design from Achica which I treated myself too. I may do an independent post on this so keep a look out. It is just a simple gold circle pendent but I really do love geometric shapes and feel this fine piece of jewellery really finishes my look off.

My skinny fit jeans are from H&M and they are a great fit for my shape. Being petite I do find it difficult to get a well fitting jean with a short length on the leg. However, I find these very good, with lasting colour, shape and at a good price I can't argue! (I have them in black, navy and khaki!)

Can we all just to take a minute to appreciate the amazing work of Colleen & Zoe and Richie for capturing it! Please check out their work with the links at the end of this post - they seriously are cool cats!

Hope you like this outfit and feel inspired, let me know if you have any wintery staple buys which you just have to have in the comments.

A huge thanks to the amazing team, without them this post would not have came to life how I imagined it. Follow their work via the links below:

Cosmopolitans and Dressing Up

So this week was my birthday and I'm always torn for what to do! I have lots of friends from different circles etc and difficult to get everyone together so last year I spread out my celebrations and done something a little different with everyone. Like going for meals at different places, going out for drinks, going somewhere during the day with other friends. This is also a good excuse to drag out celebrations for as long as possible!

This year I decided the night of my birthday I just wanted to go low key but still dress up. So I went to Bonbar in Newcastle. On a Thursday it is usually fairly quiet but still a lovely venue and somewhere to spend your evening.

This visit was no different!

For this evening, I clobbered up with a little powder blue playsuit (from Primark believe it or not.) I love this fit of this. Jewellery is by Kayleigh Falcus & heels are from JustFab.

We didn't plan to get food but they it while looking for the menu we seen their sharing boards too which are perfect little snacks while having a cocktail. We all picked a board a board each and then shared between us. I ordered the sweet potato fries with Moroccan Tomato Jam. The other 2 boards were Salami, Parmesan with Olives and Flatbread with a selection of dips.

With it being Newcastle Resturant Week & we didn't book a table they did tell us there would be a little wait on the food but the staff were super helpful & the food was not long at all! I don't think we waited very long which I was surprised by! The food was delicious and the perfect little selection of finger food. I loved the olives. The flatbread had a good salty yet scorched taste to it and the sweet potato fries were cooked to perfection. And I expected the tomato jam to be a glorified tomato ketchup but it had a lovely herby taste with a hint of raisins. I paid for my parents to visit here for Mother's Day and they got Sunday lunch which they raved about and I have ate here once before so I was telling my friends how good it was. Needless to say, this did not disappoint.

I'm in love with the interior & design of this place and think there isn't enough round bars!

Prosecco!

One of my staple cocktails! The classic cosmopolitan!

Well that's my birthday celebrations round 1. I'm sure I'll blog any other of my plans to keep celebrating my birthday so stay tuned! And if you haven't tried out what Bonbar has to offer, got check it out.

Until next time.
